Apple iPod Nano Class Action Lawsuit?

Posted by Aric on October 21st, 2005

Riding on the wave of recent class action lawsuits against Apple’s iPod (battery life), now comes a proposed class action lawsuit against Apple’s iPod Nano because it “scratches easily”.. it’ll be interesting to see how this develops.. but when we got the iPod Nano, I already knew it was susceptible to scratching.. I mean, the whole front of it is just plastic.. polycarbonate resin or whatever they said.. how is this different than if I slip my cell phone into my pocket with my keys? Maybe I’m missing something here.. but it sounds like a bunch of BS to me.. I bet if anything comes of it, Apple will just offer a free case to iPod Nano owners and pay an obscene amount of money to the lawyers who brought the class action lawsuit against Apple..

You can read more here.. there are 2 law firms involved.. here’s a link to one of them and the press release..

My Future Car: 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R

Posted by Aric on October 19th, 2005

For me, “future” being maybe 2010.. maybe then I’ll be able to afford a 2+ year old 2008 Skyline GT-R.. hahah.. with a rumored price of $70,000, I dont think I’ll be in line to buy one when they’re released at the end of 2007. Rumors say it’ll come equipped with a highly tuned” V6 (surely based on the VQ35) with twin-turbos, making somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 horsepower.

As long as the stock block can handle at least 700hp with some minor tuning, I think it should be good. For comparison, DSport’s 1996 Skyline GT-R could handle 850hp (to the wheels, even) on the stock RB26 with like 60,000 miles. With the way cars are increasing horsepower every year, 450hp in 2008 isnt going to be THAT much.. it’ll be nothing to scoff at, but still.. I’d be hard-pressed to call it a supercar.. I mean, come on.. if you can’t smoke a 2006 Corvette, what good is it?

Click here for more pictures of the 2008 Skyline GT-R at the 2005 Tokyo Auto Show. This prototype unveiled on Wednesday 10/19/05 in Tokyo represents “85%” of what will eventually be the mass production model. I’d take it as is.

Apple’s Video iPod

Posted by Aric on October 12th, 2005

I guess the rumors were correct.. Steve Jobs announced the new iPod with video capabilities.. and wouldn’t you know it, right after we bought a damn iPod Nano 4GB .. here are some notable features:

- It will come with an “almost 16:9″ 2.5″ LCD screen, capable of displaying 260k colors and a resolution of 320×200 with the ability to decode MPEG4 and H.264 video (comment: this is crap.. but since they’re keeping the same form factor (even thinner), this is excusable I guess..)

- The Video iPod will be available in 30gb and 60gb capacities with a MSRP of $299 and $399, respectively ( comment: anyone who bought a regular iPod, oh.. I dunno, last week.. must be hurting right now)

- The new iPod comes with a case! finally!

- You can now also buy TV episodes for $1.99 from iTunes to play on your computer, and surprise surprise, on your new Video iPod.. this is cool

- Video out so you can connect your Video iPod to your TV.. cool!

- Available in Black or White
