XS Engineering Lexus GS300 in Fast and Furious 3

Posted by Aric on November 2nd, 2005

I took a quick trip at lunch over to XS Engineering just to talk shop for a bit (and to deliver lunch ).. you know, keep me motivated to finish my Project FC3S.. I’ve known one of the owners for quite some time now.. I think he was 17 when we first met and he tried to sucker me into a race with a Mustang GT (like a 1990 5.0 liter) with a 250 shot.. he didnt get me that time, but he did rip me off on a Rotary Engineering 2.5″ downpipe for my RX7 later on.. anyway, its always a treat to visit XS Engineering.. the shop is something you’d expect to see in like Option Magazine.. 3 lifts, 2 dynos.. more Nissan Skylines than most people have seen in a lifetime (in the US anyway).. Toyota Supra twin-turbos, turbo Nissan 350Zs, a bunch of FD3S RX7s, S13 and S14 Nissan 240SXs, Evo 8s, etc.. you get the picture..

anyway, while I was there today, a guy from Universal Pictures came by to pick up Eric’s Lexus GS300 for the 3rd installment of The Fast and Furious, titled, Tokyo Drift. They’re paying him $250 per day to use his car.. his S13 240SX is also with them and has been for 11 days so far :!:.. too bad they werent looking for a relatively stock 2005 Infiniti G35.. his GS300 is going to be one of those “extras”.. but his S13 is one of the 6 cars on the “opposing team”.. I guess that’s the team thats against Paul Walker’s team.. anyway, here are some pics of his XS Engineering turbocharged Lexus GS300..

Another pic of XS's turbo Lexus GS300

I guess I should’ve added that its not only a turbocharged Lexus GS300, its a custom wide-bodied, turbocharged Lexus GS300 sittin’ on 20″ Work Rezaks.. I think they’re Work Rezaks.. anyway, 20″s is all that matters.. oh, and I think his car made about 300 or 330 horsepower to the wheels..

Netflix Class Action Settlement!

Posted by Aric on November 2nd, 2005

Ok, I know this looks bad.. like I’m some kind of class action junkie.. its just that the sites I frequent happen to post these things.. and hell, I wouldnt be the type to pursuit litigation or a class action lawsuit, but once someone has done the work, I might as well join in on the fun.. some would say that I’m only adding fuel to the fire.. I’d say I’m simply a free-rider.. anyway.. here are the details:

A class action lawsuit entitled Chavez v. Netflix, Inc. was filed in San Francisco Superior Court (case number CGC-04-434884) on September 23, 2004. The lawsuit alleges that Netflix failed to provide “unlimited” DVD rentals and “one day delivery” as promised in its marketing materials. Netflix has denied any wrongdoing or liability. The parties have reached a settlement that they believe is in the best interests of the company and its subscribers.

Netflix will provide eligible subscribers with the benefit described below, if the settlement is approved by the Court.

Current Netflix Members: If you enrolled in a paid membership before January 15, 2005 and were a member on October 19, 2005, you are eligible to receive a free one-month upgrade in service level. For example, if you are on the 3 DVDs at-a-time program, you will be upgraded to the 4 DVDs at-a-time program for one month. There will be no price increase during the upgraded month. (If you cancel your membership after October 19, 2005 and before you receive the upgrade, you will have to rejoin to get the upgrade.)

Former Netflix Members: If you enrolled in a paid membership before January 15, 2005 but were not a member on October 19, 2005, you are eligible to receive a free one-month Netflix membership on your choice of the 1, 2 or 3 DVDs at-a-time unlimited program. (If you rejoin after October 19, 2005 but before you receive the free one-month membership, you will receive a credit for the free month when it becomes available.)
These benefits will be provided after the Effective Date as defined in the Settlement Agreement. Your eligibility for the benefits is based on your membership status as of October 19, 2005. The full Settlement Agreement is available for review at www.netflixsettlement.com.

You have four options to respond to the proposed settlement. You have until December 28, 2005 to make your decision:

Option 1. Sign Up For The Benefit As Part Of The Settlement
To receive the benefit, you must complete the online registration process no later than February 17, 2006, at www.netflixsettlement.com. By signing up for the benefit, you waive your right to bring a separate lawsuit against Netflix concerning the Released Claims (as defined in the Settlement Agreement found at www.netflixsettlement.com).

I just visited the link provided and it asks you to sign in with your Netflix account (if you read carefully, as long as you were a member before January 15,2005 or are a current member or signed up January 15, 2005 and up to or prior to October 19. 2005, you’re in the money).. looks like I should be getting a free month soon ..
