I’ve been taking a break from the “car thing” for a bit, I guess.. I’ve probably said it a thousand times here, but my goal right now is to just get my RX7 running.. once I’m done with school (4 weeks to go!), I’ll have more time to dedicate to that task.. I still NEED to lower my G35 and I still NEED to get some wheels for that thing.. so anyway.. lately, I’ve been checking out the “scene” to see how the 2006 Lexus IS350 is doing.. to be honest, I dont see as many as I thought I would (new IS’s in general).. and the majority of the ones I see are IS250s.. anyway, I was browsing through some of the comments made on my site and I was intrigued by this one:

Bernie Lyons, I hardly doubt that your 300C (unless it is an SRT) can outpace an IS350.
I’ve been to the strip twice and had over 20 runs and my worst ET was 13.7.
By best run was 13.36@105 with 80% of my runs between 13.4 and 13.5.
Many IS350 owners are running 13.6-9 with ease and are also discovering that their ISes are performing better and better as the engine breaks in.

After reading that, I was like “whoa!”.. 13.36 @ 105 is pretty crazy.. not one to take 1/4 mile claims on the internet as fact, I did some more digging.. not that I question DH’s integrity, but I just wanted to see this “many IS350 owners” running 13.6-13.9s.. so I came upon www.dragtimes.com and found some numbers.. although the impressive ones seem to be from David H (or DH).. DH manages to get an average 1/4 mile time of 13.391 in his best 3 runs. The only thing I’d point out is that the temperate for those 3 runs was in the 49-50 degree range.. There’s a 4th entry from “David” with a 13.609 @ 101.740 MPH @ 70 degrees.. thats still pretty impressive.. what was kind of surprising is that the IS350 gets an average of 2.096s 60 foot times (tossing out the 2 extremes of 2.033 and 2.416).. looking here, it looks like a 2005 Infiniti G35X only managed a 2.257s 60 foot.. a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT LOOKS like it clicked off a 2.220s 60 foot time.. still no where near the 2006 Lexus IS350’s “average” of 2.096s (yes, its only 0.124, but thats a much bigger difference at the end)..
Anyway, sounds like DH has a pretty fast IS350 straight out of the factory.. I’m impressed..
